My Favorite Travel Inspiring Movies

With a newborn at home, international travel will be on hold for me for a little while (hopefully not too long, though). During times like this, I love to watch TV shows and movies that inspire me to travel. Here are some of my favorite travel movies.

Lost in Translation

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Not only does it show Tokyo from the eyes of two very interesting characters, but the soundtrack is awesome and the visuals are stunning.

Midnight in Paris

Who doesn’t dream of strolling through the streets of Paris in the 1920s?

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

This beautiful movie embodies the joy of experiencing travel and adventure, and it will really make you want to visit Iceland.

Wild

I have no desire to hike the entire Pacific Crest Trail myself, but I love being able to experience it through another character.

The Darjeeling Limited

As with all Wes Anderson movies, this movie looks incredible. The colors and perfectly designed sets will make you want to have a quirky train adventure.

Amelie

Montmartre is the cutest neighborhood in Paris, and this movie shows it off with style.

The Trip to Italy

This series of movies (The Trip, The Trip to Spain, and this one) highlight the vistas and food of these countries, but with the added bonus of funny dialogue and spot on celebrity impressions.

In Bruges

Bruges is one of the prettiest towns in the world. While this movie is about criminals hiding out there, it still shows you the beauty of this setting.

Indiana Jones

Travel and adventure galore!
